FIM EnduroGP set for ‘typically Swedish’ enduro race in Skövde
After the opening two rounds of the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship in Portugal and Spain, it’s time to head to Scandinavia for round three and the POLISPORT GP of Sweden. For the third time, event organisers FMCK Skövde will organise an EnduroGP in Sweden, returning to Skövde and its Billingen mountains for the first time since 2023.
For riders, teams and fans, all of the action taking place throughout the weekend is centrally located. The special tests are all within close walking distance from the paddock, beside the Skövde Bandy arena.
The ACERBIS Cross Test, set out on a ski slope, promises a spectacular setting to challenge riders. With numerous jumps and technical turns, it will put competitors through their paces. The GMOTO Enduro Test features typically Swedish terrain, with its hilly, stony and rocky landscape.
Both the AKRAPOVIC Super Test and POLISPORT Extreme Test will be located at the Skövde Bandy arena. With a 65-kilometre course to be completed three times each day, the POLISPORT GP of Sweden will prove itself as a truly world-class and demanding test of enduro.
With a pair of runner-up results, it’s TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon who has gained an early lead in the AKRAPOVIC Super Test standings. Eight points clear of Sherco Racing Factory’s Hamish Macdonald, Pichon will be hoping to take a win this weekend.
Three-rider fight for EnduroGP dominance
The Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship proved hot and heavy last time out at the GP of Spain, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia emerging battered and bruised, but with the leader’s plate in hand.
The Spaniard injured his foot on the final day of racing but dug deep enough to finish in second place and move into the EnduroGP championship lead. The defending EnduroGP champion will hope for a smoother run of things in Skövde, but knows he’s got a fight on his hands for victory.
Claiming a confidence-boosting win on day two in Oliana, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona will be fired up for more success in Skövde. The Italian will be hoping his larger-capacity 450 four-stroke plays to his advantage on the steep slopes of the ACERBIS Cross Test.
Holding third overall in EnduroGP is Pichon. The Frenchman lost ground to Garcia and Verona with a costly mistake on the GMOTO Enduro Test on day two in Spain, which now sees him 16 points behind Garcia. But the TM MOTO rider is proving a real threat for 2025 and will look to bounce back in Sweden.
The battle for fourth overall remains close, with just one point separating Macdonald from fifth-placed Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Samuele Bernardini, and Sherco Racing Factory’s Antoine Magain in sixth, who is tied with Bernardini on points. All riders have enjoyed a consistent run of results so far in 2025, but with Bernardini getting his first taste of an EnduroGP podium in Spain, the Honda rider will be motivated for more this weekend.
All three will need to keep a watchful eye on multiple Swedish riders looking to impress on home soil. Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team’s Mikael Persson, Fantic Factory Racing Team’s Albin Norrbin, WP Eric Auge’s Albin Elowson and Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Max Ahlin will have the backing of their home crowd throughout the weekend.
All to play for in Enduro1, Enduro2 and Enduro3
In Enduro1, Garcia has edged clear of his rivals with four wins from four starts. Bernardini holds second, with third-placed Persson three points clear of Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo in fourth.
The Enduro2 class sees Pichon hold the championship lead over Verona. However, only two points split the duo entering Skövde. Beta Factory Enduro Team’s Nathan Watson is third.
Macdonald leads the way in a competitive Enduro3. The Sherco rider holds a six-point lead over his teammate Magain in second, with TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Leo Le Quere third.
Home race for Semb in Junior class
All smiles entering his home Grand Prix is Fantic Factory Racing Team’s Axel Semb. The young Swede won both days in Spain to take control of the Junior class points lead. With home advantage on his side, he will look to capitalise on that in Skövde. Ox Moto Beta’s Leo Joyon is second in class, with Fantic Factory Racing Enduro Team Specia’s Kevin Cristino third.
After winning both days at round one, MGR Kawasaki’s Kyron Bacon suffered illness at round two, slipping down the classification to fourth as a result. Now recovered, he’ll hope to make a return to the podium at the POLISPORT GP of Sweden.
Proving just how competitive the Junior class is, Thibault Giraudon (Sherco) in fifth and Manuel Verzeroli (TM MOTO) in sixth, are both tied on points with Bacon, while all of the top-six riders have stood on the podium at least once so far this season.
Dagna heads the Youth class charge in Skövde
With two wins and four podium results from four starts, Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Romain Dagna leads the Youth class ahead of round three. The young Frenchman has looked strong in Portugal and Spain and will look to keep that momentum high in Sweden.
TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Alberto Elgari is close behind in second and has also claimed a race win in 2025. So too has Fantic Factory Racing Enduro Team Specia’s Pietro Scardina in third. With the top three pulling clear of the rest of the field, Italians Elgari and Scardina will look to close the gap to Dagna in Sweden.
