Mireia Badia, Kate Vall and Aida Castro have been selected by Ivan Cervantes, Spanish Motorcycling Federation Enduro manager, to be part of the RFME Enduro Women Team that will contest the 2021 Women’s Enduro World Championship.
After the announcement of the new 2021 FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship, which will be held across three rounds – Portugal, Sweden and France – the Spanish Motorcycling Federation, RFME, has created the RFME Enduro Women Team.
The team will be formed by three riders with Mireia Badia leading the pack after finishing runner up in the Women’s Enduro World Cup in 2020. Badia will be supported by Spanish female enduro rising stars Kate Vall and Aida Castro, who finished second and third in their national enduro championship last year.
“The news about jumping from a one race championship to a three-race series was great, we were really waiting for it”. Says team coach Ivan Cervantes. “I’m really happy for the news and for the riders that we have for the team. We have a lot of hope on Mireia because she has already finished second in the world championship and we think that she can step up and win it.
“Kate has made loads of efforts to get a place in the team with Aida doing the same, she finished third in the Spanish Enduro Championship and performed very well in the team’s tests. It’s really important for me to have a Women’s team from the federation, I hope it encourages more riders in Spain to step up and start racing the national championships.”
