The 2015 Enduro Junior World Champion and twice Enduro1 vice champion Jamie McCanney will return to the EnduroGP paddock this season onboard the Husqvarna Jet Zanardo team.
McCanney, who was second in the E1 standings in 2017 and 2018 has decided to switch his focus back to EnduroGP after trying his hand at rally-raid racing. The Isle of Man native will race in the Enduro3 class on a Husqvarna TE 300i for the Husqvarna Jet Zanardo Team.
Here is the official press release from Husqvarna Jet Zanardo Team:
The Husqvarna JET Zanardo Team is pleased to announce the agreement with Jamie McCanney for the 2021 season.
Jamie McCanney, former Youth (2013) and Junior (2015) world champion as well as twice second among the seniors (2017-2018), will return to enduro after two years of rally with a Husqvarna TE 300i managed by multiple world championship winning team.
McCanney has reached an agreement with the JET Zanardo Team for a renewable year and will join the Australian talent Andrew Wilksch in the E3 class, also on Husqvarna TE 300i with whom he has already achieved excellent confidence.
The goal for McCanney is to find the feeling with the enduro discipline, and with the bike, as soon as possible, in particular with the 2-stroke engine after five 4-stroke seasons, in order to present himself to the World Championship in competitive conditions.
“We have a very strong team overall, with excellent riders from whom we expect good things. We have worked hard to put them in the best conditions, and even with Jamie who has just arrived we are trying various solutions, although we will have to wait until the first race to understand the optimal set-up of the bike.”
